Blues, rock, country, jazz; whatever the occasion, there is a pretty good chance
that the soulful sound you'll hear is that of the diatonic harmonica, or
blues harp. This apparently simple instrument has been around in one form or another for
a lot of years. Although the design has changed relatively little over the last hundred and fifty
years, the materials have changed dramatically!
The traditional wooden comb is now often made of plastic or aluminium alloy,
and computerised production in the best factories ensures more consistent

Steve Baker Special
This exiting tuning was developed by Steve Baker, the famous player and Hohner's
consultant for diatonic harmonicas. It is based on a fourteen hole Marine Band, and was developed with the
intention of extending the range of bendable draw notes, it has an extra three at the lower end, and one at the
high end, compared with a standadard ten hole diatonic.

1923 Vintage Harp

was founded by Alfred Hering in the city of Blumenau, Brazil.

The Folk Master is a Japanese-made mid-price
harmonica. With a synthetic comb, it is suitable for folk, blues and jazz.
Hammond Suzuki
The Hammond Suzuki HA20 is back by popular demand.
This harmonica has a similar specification to the MR350, but is finished with a black
anodised comb, and enamelled cover plates, giving it a unique look. Some people
say the tone is brighter than the MR350. The HA20 is complimented with a retro style

Suzuki Pro Master MR350 and MR350V
The MR350
is a professional quality instrument, similar in style to Hohner's Meisterklasse.

Suzuki Overdrive
The
Overdrive is the most radical new
harmonica design in years. It has no aperture in the back, but holes on the top
and bottom cover plates let the air in and out. The comb is solid plastic (most
plastic combs are chambered) and each reed is partitioned individually to
increase airtightness. This help generates a thicker tone and excellent volume.
If you play using the overblow
technique, closing off the holes with palm or fingers facilitates the overblow
or draw.
Suzuki Fire Breath
The MR 500, like the MR-550, benefits from a Rosewood comb,
